Current Litters

We had six beautiful and strong puppies arrive on December 30, 2014.  Lady Lassie started contractions shortly after noon.  She delivered her first puppy, Jewel, at 2:14 pm.  Her second puppy, Mara, at 2:23, and her third, Louella, at 2:34.  Her fourth girl, Ruby arrived at 3:12.  She took a break and didn’t deliver her fifth girl, Star until 4:41 and finally a sweet boy, Arlow, at 4:46 pm.  Three are brown and white and  three are black and white, but the black will probably have some brown peek through in the next week or two, making them all tri-color puppies.  We named them from the children’s chapter book, Blown Away.   They all weighed between 8 and 10 ounces at birth.

Puppies are now 8 days old!

The puppies are nursing and gaining weight everyday.  Lassie is very fond of her puppies and wants to nurse them or at least be where she can see them at all times.  We hold them many times a day and we also give them massages to stimulate their development.

We had two litters of puppies in the fall of 2014.  Little Anne had a litter of four puppies and Kaya had five puppies.  Go to their pages to see pictures of the litters and individual pictures of the puppies…and videos!  The puppies in our fall litters went to their new homes toward the end of  November.  There were two tall cotons and all of the puppies had lots of color and most should retain quite a bit if their coloring as adults.

The puppies are now four weeks and three and a half weeks old and they are doing so great!  They have teeth coming in and are starting to enjoy soft food and colostrum.  The puppies will nurse until they are about five and a half weeks old and then we will start weaning them.  Below, you can see them enjoying a walk in the mountains carried in our slings.

Below, on the rest of this page…enjoy pictures and videos from our spring 2014 litters!

The puppies love blanket time and when they are seven weeks old, they are strong enough to hike and explore on the mountain with us!   These are some of the puppies from our spring litters in 2014 and below are videos and photos from our spring litters.

Our daughter Eliana is wonderful with the puppies, and she loves growing up with puppies!

This is our puppy room with the welping boxes where the puppies are born and nursed for the first few weeks.  Each box is padded and fitted with a heating blanket and heating lamp.  The puppies need lots of warmth their first few weeks of life.  In addition to the heating blankets and lamps, we keep their room about 80 to 90 degrees.  We will read books to the puppies, keep classical music playing for them, and hold them as much as possible.
