Where in the Rocky Mountains do you live?
We are in unincorporated Littleton, Colorado. That is just west of Denver, Colorado, in the foothills.
Do the puppies keep their color as adults?
Yes, the black and white puppies hardly fade at all. The tri-color puppies fade just a little, from dark brown to a beautiful caramel brown.
What is the difference between male and female puppies/adults in temperament?
Some people think that males are slightly more affectionate. However, in our opinion all of our puppies are unique and have very individual temperaments or “puppy”alities as my daughter calls it! The Coton de Tulear is a lovable breed and was originally bred to be a companion dog, so male and female are all very cuddly and snuggly.
When and how do I choose my puppy?
Families that have reserved a puppy will choose their puppy, with our help, at about five to six weeks. We ask that all families tell us several puppies that they are especially drawn to from the puppies that are available. Then we match up the right puppy with each family that will be successful in their family situation. This is based on the temperament of each puppy and the temperament, gender, and size that each family has requested. We wait that long so that we know which puppies are tall cotons and what their temperaments are like. Over many years, we have found this puppy selection process to be highly successful.
When do you know if you have a tall coton in your litters?
We know which of the puppies in a litter are going to be a tall coton, when the puppies are about four or five weeks old. We usually have one or two tall cotons in every litter.

Yes, please ask us!
What is involved in grooming a coton?
We brush our dogs about every other week. We brush through their body and their legs and it takes about 20 minutes. Occasionally, we clip around their eyes so that they can see clearly and so that we can see their beautiful eyes. We recommend that new puppy owners groom their puppy because it is good bonding. The photos of our dogs on the Parents page are groomed by us. An adult coton will look like our dogs if brushed every other week or so. We find grooming our dogs relatively easy and satisfying. We recommend Burt’s Bees Hydrating Conditioner with Coconut Oil for dogs that have slightly curlier hair.
Do you have a health guarantee?
Yes, we give a two-year health guarantee.
Will my puppy see a veterinarian before he or she comes home to me?
Yes, your puppy will have a physical examination with our veterinarian, your puppy will have their first set of shots, and a dewormer.
What is the size of an adult coton?
An adult standard coton weighs approximately 11 to 13 pounds and is about 11 inches at the withers (shoulders). An adult tall coton weighs about 13 to 17 pounds and is 15 to 18 inches at the withers.
When do I take my puppy home?
The best time for bonding with your new puppy is about nine weeks. Here are some instructions. Puppy Instructions When the puppies go to their new homes we give the new families a toy, sample of the food we like, blanket with the scent of their parents and litter mates, a puppy schedule and training tips, and chew toys. We recommend a soft rubber water bottle for the first few nights in your puppy’s kennel to give the illusion of a litter mate…like this one
